Rabbit and Hares are quite different in relation to damage levels. Hares are the more friendly of the two when comparing damage levels associated with most types of land therefore we tend not to shoot Hare unless its absolutely necessary i.e. helping to deter Hare Coursing. Rabbit on the other hand are a genuine destructive animal and can cause serious issues to farm land, equipment, livestock and equestrian. Keeping the population down to a manageable level is paramount.
